A chapter of Maine Audubon
Big Nights are fascinating and unique natural events that occur every spring. With spring rain and warming temperatures, frogs and salamanders move from waterbodies to their terrestrial breeding grounds by the truckload. However, these miniature migrations often put them in harm’s way on roads.
Our presenter, Greg LeClair, is the creator and Director of the “Maine Big Night” community science project, where he coordinates the collection of statewide data on Maine’s amphibian migrations. In this free online program, he’ll talk about how to assist and protect these ancient populations, and how to get more involved in this important work. Please visit the FPAC Visitor Center before or after the program to check out a volunteer kit, if you are interested.
