June 12 @ 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm

The haunting night music of the whip-poor-will used to be a familiar sound throughout the Penobscot Valley.  But changes in habitat and dwindling insect populations have greatly reduced the number of areas where whip-poor-wills can still nest and raise their young. The Walden Parke Preserve, a Bangor Land Trust property, is a sanctuary for whip-poor-wills along with many other species of flora and fauna.  Join us for an evening walk to look and listen for whip-poor-wills and other crepuscular species.

Directions:  From Essex Street heading north toward Pushaw Lake, turn right onto Walden Parke Way.  Take another right onto Tamarack Trail, and drive to where the road dead-ends at the Bangor Land Trust kiosk.

Leaders:  Bob Milardo, Lucy Quimby
