Fall Nature Walk, Great Pond Mountain Wildlands, Orland
October 18 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join Penobscot Valley Chapter President Gordon Russell on this lovely fall hike in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands, where we will look for late migrating birds, other wildlife, and enjoy late season foliage. This easy to moderate hike is 4.5 miles out and back, starting at the North Gate entrance on Bald Mountain Road in Orland. We will be on gravel roads, except for the final 0.2 miles, where a trail leads down to Hothole Brook and the pond.
A full description of the hike, including directions can be found in Aislinn Sarnacki’s 1-minute hike series. READ MORE. A down-loadable map of the Wildlands, showing the Hothole Pond trail can be seen HERE.
Meet at 10:00 AM at the North Gate parking area on Bald Mountain Rd. in Orland. Bring water, a lunch or snacks. Please bring a mask or other suitable face covering, and be prepared to maintain social distancing. Since we are in bird hunting season, please wear some orange, just to be on the safe side.
Call 989-2591 to sign up. Registration limited to 12 people.
